Study abroad

As part of the internationalisation of the Technische Universität Braunschweig, the Chair of Production and Logistics is directly involved in various collaborations with foreign universities. These include:

  • University of Rhode Island
  • TU Sofia – Fakultät für deutsche Ingenieur- und Betriebswirtschaftsausbildung (FDIBA)
  • The University of Tokyo
  • Tongji University Shanghai

In addition, there are other possibilities for a stay abroad (study abroad). For further information on advice, recognition and expert opinions see below.

Consultation

The International Office of the Technische Universität Braunschweig is your contact for general advice on studying abroad, application processes/visas, and funding. For further information, visit the website of the International Office.

The Chair of Production and Logistics offers special advice regarding the content of lectures and the approval of academic achievements in the field of production and logistics. For this purpose, a request can be sent. An exchange plan with the desired equivalents as well as the course description at the partner university should be attached and can be submitted in advance for certain lectures. This enables us to directly check whether an approval is possible. If necessary, we will also invite you to meet us in person in order to clarify any open questions.

Contact person: Dr. Alexander Barke

Approval

With regard to the approval of academic achievements, you have various options. For example, our advanced bachelor studies, parts of our master's studies, or the advanced master's studies can be approved. Only complete modules will be approved. It is not possible to approve partial achievements from a module. Additionally, there is the possibility of the approval of student work after prior agreement. For further information, see below.

Contact person: Dr. Alexander Barke.

Bachelor's programme

Within the bachelor's program, there is the possibility of approval of our advanced bachelor lecture, "Operations Management".  The following basic rules apply:

  • For the approval of study achievements abroad, a sufficiently high congruence with the content of the lecture "Operations Management"  is required.
  • For the approval of equivalent achievements, the workload must be at least 6 ECTS.

Master's programme

Within the master's program, there is the possibility of approval of different modules. Further information can be found here. There is the possibility of approval of single modules (5 ECTS) or advanced master studies (10 ECTS). The following basic rules apply:

  • For the approval of study achievements abroad, a sufficiently high congruence with the content of our lectures is required.
  • For the approval of equivalent achievements, the workload must be at least 5 ECTS or 10 ECTS.

Student projects and seminars

In addition, there is the possibility of approval of student projects and seminars. Please discuss the details with your supervisor.

Letter of recommendation

For some exchange programs and scholarships, a letter of recommendation from a university professor is required for the application. If you would like to receive a letter of recommendation from Professor Spengler, please contact us. The following documents from you are needed to prepare the letter of recommendation: Motivation letter, curriculum vitae, table of grades, and relevant certificates. If necessary, we will also invite you to a personal interview to clarify any open questions. As the preparation of a letter of recommendation takes some time, you should contact us in due time (at the latest four weeks before the deadline).

Contact person: Patrick Schumacher

Request for an oral exam

In exceptional cases, we will make it possible for you to take an oral examination if, for example, you are no longer in Germany on the scheduled examination date due to a stay abroad. Please proceed as follows:

  • Register regularly for the complete module (advanced master studies, orientation or specialization) at your examination office or in the QIS portal.
  • Please contact the supervisor of your lecture immediately with the request to get an appointment for an oral examination.
