Evaluations in teaching and studies serve to ensure continuous quality assurance and improvement and form the basis for constructive dialogue. They can be used to design measures for the further development of the courses offered in the degree programmes. This ensures that decentralised and centralised quality management cycles are linked, as is also required for accreditation, for example.
Section 5(1) (German: § 5 Abs. 1) of the Niedersächsischen Hochschulgesetz stipulates that universities should enable students to evaluate courses at least once a year.
Currently, course evaluations at TU Braunschweig can take a quantitative form (Evasys questionnaire) or a qualitative form (e.g. evaluation interview).
