We support planning and decision making with data and make progress visible

Strategic Controlling supports the Executive Board and the faculties by providing decision-relevant data for planning, managing and evaluating of strategic processes in the context of university development.

Our data and analyses contribute to ...

  • to be able to provide information on our high-performing areas.
  • identify development potential.
  • make  needs and trends visible

Our tasks:

  • Strategic key figures: We carry out regular monitoring using defined strategic key figures for our performance dimensions and overarching themes. This enables us to visualise the progress of our strategic approach to holistic development on the path to excellence.
  • Analyses & benchmarks: We carry out regular and topic- or event-related analyses as well as benchmarks with suitable comparative universities . The insights gained in this way are channelled into various university development processes and projects.
  • University rankings: We support participation in national and international university rankings, e.g. with regard to changes in ranking methodologies, clarifying definitions of indicators, checking data availability or coordinating reporting processes within the university.

Our work is carried out within the university in close coordination and cooperation with the University Controlling unit.

We are networked nationally and internationally, for example through our participation in the HRK (German Rectors’ Conference) service project "International University Rankings" or through our membership in the Benchmark Task Force in the network CESAER (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research).
