The logo, the specific colours and the house fonts are the basic elements of the corporate design. They form the basis for a uniform visual presentation and, in interaction with the design principle, ensure an unmistakable and lively appearance.
The university bears the name "Technische Universität Braunschweig". It also bears the historical name "Carolo-Wilhelmina". (...)", as the Basic Regulations of Technische Universität Braunschweig put it according to paragraph 1, section 1.
In accordance with the Basic Regulations, Technische Universität Braunschweig should always be referred to in this form or in the abbreviated form TU Braunschweig in communication. Other abbreviations should be avoided without fail. If, as an exception, the location Braunschweig is abbreviated with "BS" because compulsory, e.g. technical reasons require it, a hyphen must be placed in front of it. Acronyms such as TUB, TUBS or similar word creations from this abbreviation should be avoided.
The historical name "Carolo-Wilhelmina" will in future only be used as a circumsscription in the seal. It does not have to be added to the naming of the university, but can function as a synonym in texts.
In its appearance, Technische Universität Braunschweig clearly acknowledges the seal as a sign of its long tradition. Paragraph 3 of the Basic Regulations states: "In matters of self-government, Technische Universität Braunschweig has its own seal with the following emblem: 'Vertically divided oval with two striding leopards arranged one above the other in the left field and an upright lion in the right field, decorated with six hearts. The circumscription of the seal reads Carolo-Wilhelmina Braunschweig.'"
The TU Braunschweig logo consists of the seal with the circumscription "Carolo-Wilhelmina Braunschweig" and the adjacent university name. Both are placed on a rectangular seal band. The logo is always used in this unit and may not be changed in shape or proportion.
In the course of the corporate design, we have moderately revised the seal. It has become more recognisable and technically more reproducible.

The TU Braunschweig's house font is Nexus. It is used to create professional printed matter such as brochures, flyers, advertisements and posters. The Nexus Sans and Nexus Serif fonts can be used by all institutes and facilities for the format templates.
In office communication and in all office programmes, only the Arial font is used.
In addition to the primary colours red, black and white, secondary colours create a varied and independent colour climate. The secondary colour range consists of a total of 12 colours. They are divided into four areas: Yellow-Orange, Green, Blue and Violet. All secondary colours and black can be lightened in 20 percent steps. The colour values, CMYK for four-colour printing, RGB as well as HEX can be found in the CD toolbox at www.tu-braunschweig.de/presse/cd/toolbox/basis/farben.
The defining element of TU Braunschweig's visual appearance is the layout system, which is used in all media. It distinguishes between a sender area (who is speaking?) and a communication area (content). The seal band forms the bracket between the two areas.
The characteristic "Gaussian grid" goes back to the summation formula according to Carl Friedrich Gauß. It divides the communication area in publications into individual areas. Several areas can be combined.
Examples of use: Layouts on coloured areas and with parts of the image in the segments of the "Gaussian grid", with and without the institute logo and institute name.
