Tutorial
Date and time: Tuesday, 15.00 - 15.45
Location: Lecture room 003, Hermann-Blenk-Str. 37
Start: Summer semester
Tutor: Riccardo Gaudioso, M.Sc.

Course Objective

The students obtain an overview on multiphase flow and its technical relevance in the field of aeronautical and automotive
engineering applications. They understand the physical mechanisms of basic multiphase phenomena (droplet impact, film
flow) and are able to deduce more complex phenomena (e.g. aircraft icing). The students gather an overview on
computational, theoretical and experimental methods to describe multiphase flow enabling them to apply their knowledge
to practical engineering problems.

Course Content

  • Technical relevance of multiphase flow in the field of aeronautical and automotive engineering applications dynamics of
  • droplet impact (models, experiments and computational results)
  • film flow (film transport, film equations)
  • sprays (technical relevance, atomizer design, spray characterization)
  • icing (phenomena, aircraft certification, computation, experiments, de-icing)
