All students of TU Braunschweig can apply.

The subject-specific application requirements depend on your degree programme. Students in Bachelor's degree programmes can already study abroad as of their 1st semester. However, we recommend that you only do an exchange when you begin your 3rd semester of your Bachelor's or Staatsexamen degree programme.

The monthly Erasmus grants for Project 2024 depend on the country you want to study in:

• Country category I :
  600 € per month (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the partner countries from Regions 13 (Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City) and 14 (Faroe Islands, Switzerland, United Kingdom). Please note: This is the International Credit Mobility in Erasmus+.
• Country category II+III :
  540 € per month (Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Macedonia (FYROM), Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary). 

Erasmus scholarships can also be combined with international BAföG, educational loans and "Deutschlandstipendien".

Additional possible top ups (grants)

• Fewer Opportunities:

  • Students and graduates with a disability, students with children, first-time graduates and working students: 250 euros.

• Green travel: potential additional travel days: up to max. 6

• Country category I :
  600 € per month (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the partner countries from Regions 13 (Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City) and 14 (Faroe Islands, Switzerland, United Kingdom). • Country category II+III :
  540 € per month (Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Macedonia (FYROM), Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary). 

Erasmus scholarships can also be combined with international BAföG, educational loans and "Deutschlandstipendien".

Additional possible top ups (grants)

  • Students and graduates with a disability, students with children, first-time graduates and working students: 250 euros.

  • Under certain conditions, you can also submit a claim for actual costs. We would be happy to advise you.

• Green travel: Travel allowance and up to 6 travel days, see table below

• Physical Erasmus+ - Mobility abroad
  In the Physical Erasmus+ - Outgoing Mobility, you spend the entire period of your mobility (one to two semesters) abroad.
• Blended Mobility:
  Blended mobility is a form of study-related mobility abroad that is characterised by a mixture of real mobility + virtual mobility, as well as blended learning approaches. The aim is to support flexible and innovative learning and teaching. In addition, any mobility can be carried out in a blended format.

• Virtual Mobility & Virtual Mobility
  Virtual mobility is intended to enable all students, regardless of e.g. financial or social background, to gain international and intercultural experience without physical mobility.
  
  With purely virtual mobility, only lectures are attended digitally from your location in Germany. These lectures can then be recognised as part of the Erasmus+ semester abroad.
  
  Virtual Exchange is about an entire virtual experience abroad. In addition to attending lectures, the focus is on working together with international fellow students. Extracurricular events can also be attended virtually. The aim is for students to develop their cooperation skills, intercultural and digital competences as well as their foreign language skills.
• Blended-Intensive-Programs (BIPs):
  In the Blended Intensive Programmes you participate in a short physical group mobility (5-30 days) combined with a virtual phase. The duration of the virtual mobility phase is not predefined and can vary according to the needs. The physical mobility can be carried out at the host institution or at another location in the host/host country. Funded students should be able to achieve at least 3 ECTS that contribute to the completion of their studies.

International Credit Mobility (ICM) allows students to visit countries outside Europe that are not Erasmus+ programme countries. The prerequisite for visiting the respective university is an inter-institutional agreement between TU Braunschweig and the host university.

Funding:

Within the framework of an ICM, students can receive an Erasmus+ mobility grant. The amount of the grant depends on the respective region in which the partner university is located.

• Region 13: Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City > Country category 2 (540 EUR per month)
• Region 14: Faroe Islands, Switzerland, United Kingdom > Country category 1 (600 EUR per month)
• For all other regions mentioned on the website, students will receive a monthly mobility grant of 700 EUR.

Application within Europe:

You can have the credits that you gain at the host university recognised after your return to TU Braunschweig. The prerequisite for recognition is the conclusion of a learning agreement between you, your faculty or your degree programme and the host university. Please inform yourself in good time before your departure about the recognition possibilities with the subject coordinators of your faculty.

Language requirements vary from country to country and university to university. Some partner universities do not require any language certificates, while others require you to submit a TOEFL test or a DAAD language certificate in the language of instruction. Check with your host university in good time and plan enough time to update your language skills to the required level.

Important: You must already provide proof of your sufficient language skills at the time of your application at TU Braunschweig. You can prove your language skills by providing evidence within the framework of the European Framework of Reference (A1-C2), such as your "Abitur" certificate, the DAAD language certificate, successfully completed language courses at the Language Centre of TU Braunschweig, or the TOEFL test, etc. Students who already had to hand in a proof of language skills for the university entrance at TU Braunschweig can use said proof for their Erasmus application.

The new generation of Erasmus+ puts more emphasis on digitalisation, inclusion and sustainability:

• Digitalisation:

Digitalisation with Erasmus without paper (EWP) will make Learning Agreements, Inter-Institutional Agreements and Transcript of Records digitally created and usable in the future. The Mobility Office is currently working step by step on the implementation of this project. You can find the current status of the implementation here.

• Erasmus+ Green:

"Green Travel" is defined as travel that uses low-emission means of transport such as bicycle, bus, train or carpooling for the main part of the trip. For this, students are to receive a one-time travel allowance of 50€. In addition, up to 4 additional days can be funded.

• Inclusion:

In the area of inclusion, participants with a level of disability of 20% or more and students with children are now given additional support ("fewer opportunities"). This is intended to create a common understanding of the "fewer opportunities" group and thus create a framework that better integrates the different participants into the programme.

TU Braunschweig has been awarded the Erasmus+ University Charter (ECHE) by the European Commission on the basis of its Erasmus+ Policy Statement (EPS). This officially entitles TU Braunschweig to apply for and implement Erasmus+ measures. The rights and obligations of the participating students are regulated in the Erasmus+ Student Charter (ESC).
