Dual Degree Programmes

Study once, graduate twice

In a dual degree programme, you study at TU Braunschweig and at a partner university abroad, earning a degree from each institution. Thanks to the carefully coordinated curricula, the duration of your studies is not extended.

The programmes have an integrated curriculum.
The coursework you complete in Braunschweig and abroad fulfils the requirements for both degrees.
You will write a thesis that is acknowledged by both universities.
Upon completion, you will receive the national degree from each institution.

Dual degree programmes are available at TU Braunschweig with the following partner universities:

Field of study	Technology-orientated management (ToM)
University degrees	Bulgarian and German Master of Science in Industrial Management and ToM.
Application deadline	Applications for the following academic year are due by January 31st. However, if there are remaining places available, late applications may be accepted.
Timing of the application	from 1st master's semester
Beginning of the stay abroad	from 2nd master's semester
Duration of the stay abroad	One semester (two semesters also possible)
Prerequisites	Bachelor's degree, enrolment in the ToM degree programme
Programme schedule	You study one semester of the Master's degree programme at the FDIBA in Sofia and earn at least 30 credit points there. The mutual recognition of modules from the IM and ToM degree programmes enables you to obtain a double degree. The Master's thesis is also recognised by both universities, whereby the first examiner must be from TU Braunschweig and the second examiner from FDIBA. The curriculum for this program is largely pre-defined regarding your time abroad.

Double Master Programme

Prerequisites	Completed Bachelor's degree - French language certificate at B2 level
Programme schedule	You earn a total of 60 credit points at the UTC. Internships are integrated into your stay abroad. You can choose to write your thesis in Germany or at the host university; it will be recognised at both universities.

Upon completion of the double master's programme, you have the opportunity to pursue a doctorate supervised by both universities. As part of this programme, you will spend up to 18 months at the UTC. Additionally, you will receive a scholarship from the Franco-German University to support you during your stay abroad.

Programme schedule	You will spend the first year of the Master's program at VGTU, earning 60 credit points. In the second year, you will return to TU Braunschweig to write your Master's thesis, which will be recognized by both universities. The curriculum for this programme is largely predefined.

University of Rhode Island

To prepare for your stay at the University of Rhode Island (URI), we recommend that you participate in the Language Centre's Intercultural Partner Project (IPP). In the IPP, you will form a language tandem with a tandem partner from URI and, upon successful completion, receive a certificate of participation and 4 credits (ECTS) in English.

The international double master's programme in Communications Engineering and Data Science (CoDaS) is an Erasmus Mundus master's programme. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are international programmes of excellence offered jointly by at least three universities from European and, where applicable, non-European countries. All programmes include at least two compulsory mobility phases in two different countries.

At CoDaS, students choose one of the four home universities (Aalto, Técnico Lisboa, TU Braunschweig or UPC BarcelonaTech) in the first year and one of the five host universities (Aalto, Técnico Lisboa, TU Braunschweig, UPC BarcelonaTech or Grenoble INP-UGA) in their second year.

In the first year, you will complete courses worth 60 ECTS credits at your home university.
In the second year, you will take courses worth 30 ECTS credits at your host university and write a master's thesis (30 ECTS credits). In the first year, you will already gain an insight into your future specialisation through an online course offered by your future host university.

Master's and MBA programmes in the USA

You will complete a Master's or MBA programme at a partner university in the United States and finish your studies there with an American degree.
Academic achievements obtained abroad will be fully or partially recognised at TU Braunschweig.
Subsequently, you will write your German Master's thesis at TU Braunschweig.

To prepare for your stay at a US partner university, we recommend participating in the Language Centre's Intercultural Partner Project (IPP). In the IPP, you will form a language tandem with a tandem partner from the US and, upon successful completion, receive a certificate of participation and 4 credits (ECTS) in English.

Timing of the application	5th Bachelor's semester to 1st Master's semester
Beginning of the stay abroad
Duration of the stay abroad	3 trimester
Prerequisites	Bachelor's degree at the start of your stay • English test of the Language Centre • GMAT with at least 500 points
Programme schedule	You study at URI for one year and complete your studies with an MBA. You do not write a thesis for this because the MBA is a professional degree which, unlike an academic degree, is completed without a thesis. After your return to TU Braunschweig, your academic achievements will be recognised here and you will write your German Master's thesis.
Programme funding	You pay a participation fee of 1500 € and receive a tuition fee waiver for two trimesters for the regular credit load. You pay reduced tuition fees for the required credit overload of 6 points. In the third trimester, your tuition fees will be reduced to instate tuition.

Programme schedule	You study for a year at the UNO and complete your studies with an MBA. You do not write a thesis for this, as the MBA is a professional degree, which, unlike an academic degree, does not require a thesis. Upon your return to TU Braunschweig, your academic achievements are recognised here, and you proceed to write your German Master's thesis.
