Questions concerning your courses

For questions concerning the courses offered at the host university and on the selection and recognition of courses, it is best to contact the subject coordinators in your faculty.

You can find their contact details in our database.

1. Fill out the online application. Print out the generated PDF file and sign it.

2. For your application, you need a transcript of records in English listing your academic credits up to now. You can create the transcript in the TUconnect portal. If you have only transferred to TU Braunschweig for your Master's degree and have not yet completed any courses in Braunschweig, please submit a list of academic credits from your Bachelor's degree programme.
3. Create a draft course plan in which you list the courses you want to take abroad. The course plan is important so that your subject coordinators can get an idea of your study plans when making their selection.

4. Create a detailed, tabular curriculum vitae in English with information on your main areas of study and your study goals, your foreign language skills, other interests and your commitments within and outside of your studies.
5. Write a letter of motivation. Explain your reasons for studying at your host university. The letter of motivation should be about half a page to one A4 page long and written in English.

6. Submit proof of your language skills in the language of instruction (working language). This can be your "Abitur" certificate, a certificate of a language course at the Language Centre, a language test of the Language Centre, or another certificate which shows which language level you have in the European Framework of Reference (A1 - C2). Students who already had to hand in a proof of language skills for the university entrance at TU Braunschweig can use said proof of language skills for the Erasmus application.

7. Print out your enrolment certificate in the TUconnect portal.
8. Attach a copy of your passport or ID card.

Send the online application signed and digitally as a PDF by e-mail to:

The file must not be larger than 10 MB and must be named as follows: Surname_First Name_2024_25.pdf

Once all applications have been received, the subject coordinators in the faculties select the applicants. If you have been nominated for participation, you can now apply at your host university. You will receive the application documents and dates directly from your host university about two weeks after the nomination. Your application usually includes the following documents:

• Student Application Form of the host university
• Learning Agreement in which you specify which courses you would like to attend at the host university. This document regulates the academic recognition of your achievements and must be signed by both TU Braunschweig and your host university.
  
  From the winter semester 2022/23 onwards, the Learning Agreement at TU Braunschweig will be processed only via the OLA tool. If your host university does not yet use the OLA tool, please use the Learning Agreement template of the host university.

• If you need to provide the ESI (European Student Identifier) within the application at the host university, you can form it as follows:

• Note for students of Faculty 4:

  After Faculty 4 has nominated you for a specific place at a foreign university, the equivalence certificates and the exchange plan must still be prepared before the Learning Agreement can be signed. Once you have successfully completed your application, you will receive a link to the online language test of the Erasmus programme by email.

The language test is offered in German, English, Spanish, French, Italian and Dutch. You must complete it once before and once after your stay abroad if you are studying abroad in one of these languages. It is intended to document your current language level and show how your language level will improve during your stay abroad.

The language test is a tool to systematically evaluate the effectiveness of Erasmus in the field of language learning across Europe. It is not a selection criterion for funding in the Erasmus programme and it does not replace the language certificate that may be required.
