Studying English Language Education opens up a wide range of perspectives. The subject focuses on the processes involved in teaching and learning English as a foreign language.
Langugage is the jewel in the crown of human cognition,
and indeed is arguably the most complex
cognitive undertaking in which humans engage.

At the heart of our discipline is the engagement with language, literature, culture, and digital media, as well as the question of how English language teaching can be designed to be effective and meaningful. At TU Braunschweig, we combine subject-specific knowledge with perspectives from language education and practice-oriented teacher training.
Our courses at TU Braunschweig cover all areas of English language education, ranging from the foundations of foreign language learning to inclusion, bilingual education, cultural and literary learning, and the use of digital media in the classroom.
Throughout their studies, our students can choose their own areas of specialisation and develop individual profiles through our certificate programmes CLIL TUBS and ZiEL TUBS (see below).
