Learning Spaces in Green Places

The goal of the project was to create two open-air study spaces on the campus of the TU Braunschweig. This will give students the chance to study, network, or do group work while being outdoors.

Status of implementation – November 2025:

  • The first study space has already been completed and is located at the Studihaus building towards the Oker river. It features a table and seating combination that can be used directly by students.
  • The groundwork for the second location in the Botanical Garden began in early November. The accompanying table and seating combination is currently still in storage and will be set up soon.
  • In addition, a mobile table and bench set is available for loan.

“Learning spaces in green places” with the portable “Braunschweiger Hocker”

In addition to the permanently installed table and bench combinations, there are also portable learning spaces. The so-called "Braunschweiger Hocker" are modular wooden furniture that all members of the TU can borrow to flexibly move their learning or event location outdoors or to creatively design indoor spaces.

Whether as seating, an information booth, or a portable bar, the stools are versatile and can be used alone or in groups as needed. They not only promote cooperative work, but also offer an attractive alternative to traditional learning spaces and help make the campus a more livable place to spend time.

The stools can be borrowed conveniently via the Sandkasten rental platform.
