Campus Design

Outdoor Learning Spaces

The Green Office project aims to create two to three barrier-free outdoor learning spaces on the TU Braunschweig campus. Tables and benches will be installed in the open air as far as possible. A portable and loanable table and bench set is also possible.

Studying and learning on campus does not only take place in the auditorium, but also outside - more rooms are needed for this. Outdoor learning spaces offer flexible options for individual learning, group work, meetings of student initiatives or even events. They are therefore not only used for learning, but also for exchanging ideas and networking. In this way, they contribute to making the campus a more liveable and attractive place to be.

Another advantage is heat protection: shaded outdoor learning spaces can help to cool students down by increasing air circulation. Learning in the immediate vicinity of nature also reduces stress and can promote mental and physical health, as it encourages people to be active outdoors during breaks. Green learning spaces are therefore part of an environmentally conscious and sustainable campus design.
