"Deutschlandstipendium" at Technische Universität
The scholarship programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) was launched in the summer semester 2011.
How does it work?
The "Deutschlandstipendium" is a matching funds programme. The university acquires sponsors donating half the sum of a scholarship for one year (winter and summer semester). The other half is financed by the federal government. The stipend rate is 300 Euro per month.
The "Stipendienprogramm-Gesetz"( scholarship programme law) clearly states that universities have to award scholarships first and foremost due to "talent and academic performance". Social commitment, a strong sense of (social) responsibility or challenging personal circumstances may also be taken into consideration. The scholarship is awarded without consideration of personal or parental income.
Selection of scholarship holders at TU Braunschweig
Committees consisting of members of the TU Braunschweig support the selection process. Decisions are first of all based on your written online application. In some cases the committees also invite applicants for a personal interview to make a final decision.
The "Deutschlandstipendium" is awarded annually during the winter semester. The application period for winter semester 2016/17 scholarships will be around June/July 2016. Please check our website regularly for specific dates.
Is the "Deutschlandstipendium" available for students from
all TU Braunschweig programmes?
Basically yes. Each sponsor can preset certain programmes and the university has to honor those wishes. However, the scholarship programme law states that at least 1/3 of all scholarships have to be available without any preset wishes from sponsors. This means all students, regardless if they study in a bachelor or master programme at the TU Braunschweig, may apply. There is no guarantee that scholarships are awarded in each programme.
What else should I know?
As a scholarship holder of a "Deutschlandstipendium" you cannot be doubley funded. This means that you may only accept one scholarship at a time. If you have been awarded a "Deutschlandstipendium" you may not accept other scholarships or funds.
The scholarship will be terminated on the day of the last exam, exmatriculation / graduation or at the end of the award; whichever is earlier.
