Diversity Day 2023

Diversity Day 2023 | Universitätsplatz

Tag der Vielfalt, 26. Juni, Universität

Together for more diversity in society and university

Raise the rainbow flag and much more: On Diversity Day on June 26, 2023, Braunschweig University of Technology, in cooperation with regional initiatives and experts from anti-discrimination work, will offer a varied program of workshops, keynote speeches, music and information booths on the topics of diversity, anti-discrimination and equal rights.

Diversity only works together. Under this motto, the Technical University of Braunschweig is organizing the second "Diversity Day" on June 26 at the University Square. "On this day, we want to work together with regional actors for a more diversity-friendly society, promote exchange and help the topic gain more visibility", explains Anouk Almstedt, Diversity Policies Officer at the Technical University.

The university wants to open up and also actively promote understanding of diversity and structural changes at its own university. "The whole thing is a long-term process that we want to accompany and actively shape with events like Diversity Day", says Anouk Almstedt. Interested individuals can find out at the Diversity Day what is on offer at the university and beyond to help promote a more diverse society.

At 24 booths, initiatives such as valente*, Refugium, VSE, as well as internal university contact points such as the Diversity Coordination Office or the AStA and many more will offer information as well as exciting activities to participate in and exchange perspectives. Special focus will be placed on the topic "queer@TU", as this will be the focus topic at the university in 2023, leading the way for the university's event program. "The event will start at 1 p.m. with the raising of the rainbow flag", Anouk Almstedt explains the schedule. "Diversity is much more than just raising the rainbow flag. But as we do every year, we're making an important statement on the main campus and showing what values we stand for as a university."

This will be followed by a diverse stage program with guest lectures by Türkân Deniz-Roggenbuck and Anna Klassen as well as musical contributions by Fabien Diffé, Funky Grannies, Lisa Strat and the hip-hop duo SPNNNK. In addition, visitors have the chance to intensively deal with the different perspectives of diversity in three workshops by Schwarze Schafe e.V., Schlau e.V. and the expert Türkân Deniz-Roggenbuck (kulturton). Participation is completely free of charge. If you want to be kept up to date, you can find more information on the social media channels of the Technical University. Registration for the workshops is possible via mail to i.stang@tu-braunschweig.de.
