ProteGEEr

Since 2017, TU Braunschweig, Dept. of Waste and Resource Management, is implementing partner of the GIZ project " Spport to the implementation of the National Policy for Solid Waste considering climate protection (ProteGEEr)” in Brazil, funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German BMU.

For more information, please check the website of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

The project advises Brazilian federal ministries on the introduction of climate-relevant criteria into national regulations, but also works directly with selected pilot municipalities and supports them in implementing climate-friendly waste management measures.

TU Braunschweig is working with a network of nine Brazilian partner universities and one research center. The main activities within the project are the promotion of student, researcher and lecturer exchanges and the development and application of joint research projects to promote the diffusion of climate-friendly technologies in Brazilian waste management.

Furthermore, TU Braunschweig is active in knowledge transfer and capacity building, organizes guest lectures between the Brazilian universities and between Brazil and Germany and trains the partner universities in the use of the innovative teaching and learning materials of teach4waste.

The project has ended 09/2022.
