As part of the Bachelor project work, the students should work in a team to work on a topic independently and thereby learn practice-oriented skills. The project work is offered at the IK in both the winter and summer semester and should be carried out in a team of 3-6 students. The Bachelor project work is divided into two parts: With a scope of 1 CP, the presentation is assessed as part of a lecture, the remaining number of points is to be added to the written elaboration of the topic.
The IK is offering two topics in the summer semester 2026. You find these further down on this page and in the StudIP course under “Files (Dateien)”.
Date: 16 April 2026, 4.45 pm
Room: LK6.2 (CAD-Pool, Langer Kamp 6)
The event takes places in the summer and winter semesters.
To support the project work, the Institute of Design Engineering has been offering a compulsory workshop for all participants since the summer semester of 2024. The workshop is designed to last between 0.5 and 1 day and takes place in person prior to the actual project work. The aim of the workshop is to impart knowledge in various interdisciplinary areas of expertise relating to the preparation of academic papers and presentations. This course is designed to prepare students for their future academic work and professional careers in an academic environment.
The Institute of Engineering Design offers workshops in these fields of competence:
During the semester break, the Institute for Engineering Design will post the new topics, which will be worked on as project work in the following semester. The students register independently for the topic via StudIP.
The registration for the project work takes place in three steps:
1. Informal Registration (for planning)
First, the students have to register informally at the Institute that offers the topic of the project work. This is done via StudIP (this registration is used by the institutes for organization).
The topic is offered for the following specialization:
2. Mandatory participation in the introductory event (see below)
3. Binding Registration
The binding registration for the project work takes place (in person and writing) in the first week of the semester after the introductory event (see below).
In the context of the introductory event, there is a comprehensive introduction to the organization and processing structure of project work. Therefore, there is compulsory attendance for all students.
You can find the topics in the winter semester 2026 on the German site or via StudIP.
