Fascination of vehicle construction (new course from winter semester 2025)

Objectives of the course

The event teaches participants about the key global challenges facing the production of cars in Germany and Europe. Using the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg as an example, it shows how a customer order is planned in the plant and how a factory is managed. This will provide an understanding of
the process chain of automotive production and show how individual trades are used operationally in the process. In addition to the respective basics, current and future technologies associated with digitalization and sustainability will be discussed. Participants will be able to describe the planning steps for the integration of a new vehicle project and gain in-depth knowledge of how to improve production in series operation.

Content

  • Overview of the global challenges facing the automotive industry
  • Presentation of criteria for managing efficient vehicle production
  • Technologies and processes in vehicle production
  • Insight into the entire value chain from the press shop and body shop to the paint shop and assembly using practical examples of the state of the art
  • Potential for innovative, sustainable and future-proof vehicle construction
  • Presentation of production-related success factors based on logistics, quality assurance, maintenance, the environment and sustainability
  • Cross-trade communication of the planning of new vehicle projects through to series production and continuous production optimization along the process chain
