Qualification goals

Fügetechniken für den Leichtbau

In the module "Joining Techniques for Lightweight Construction", students acquire the theoretical principles and methodological knowledge for the design and execution of joints for lightweight construction.

With the acquired knowledge the students are able to design constructions according to the joining technology in an optimal way to exploit the full lightweight construction potential of the component. Furthermore, the students can enumerate quality assurance methods for the established joining technologies and explain the function and implementation in a production line. By attending the module, students have understood the high potential of adhesive bonds for lightweight construction and have a large knowledge base with which they can develop bonding solutions for joining. This includes the analytical characterization of adhesives for the correct design of the bonding process with regard to adhesive thickness, the part to be joined, handling and application technology. Further exercises enable the students to calculate bonded joints and to design load- and stress-oriented bonded joints.

Content

Mediation of the basics and consolidation using the example of applications for the following topics of joining techniques for lightweight construction:

  • Joining in lightweight constructions
  • Cold joining and bonding with regard to lightweight construction materials such as high-strength steels, Al, Ti, Mg, FVK and sandwich materials
  • Beam welding of lightweight construction materials: weldability, welding safety, weldability
  • Cold joining: Formability, Strength, Process
  • Glue: reaction mechanisms, curing, glass transition temperature, surfaces
  • Hybrid joining
  • Bonding
  • Calculation of bonded joints
  • Manufacturing Integration
  • Design of joints in lightweight constructions
