How can we compute as frugally as the brain? At the Institute of Neuromorphic Computing (IfNC) we develop computing systems that process information where it is stored and that only become active when there is something to compute. They build on hafnium-oxide ferroelectric memory devices, compute-in-memory architectures and hardware for spiking neural networks, designed in advanced CMOS technologies and fabricated with our partners, first and foremost Fraunhofer IPMS in Dresden.
Led by Prof. Dr. Thomas Kämpfe, our research spans the device, the circuit and the trained neural network on the chip, and we pass this knowledge on in lectures, lab courses and theses.
