The adaptation of plants to their habitat can be seen in their leaves. The water supply plays a major role here. Do plants live where there is an abundance of water or do they have to fight for every drop?
The pupils learn how the leaves of plants are adapted to the factors of water and nutrients. They do not only look at the outer shape of the leaves. When they look at the leaf structures under binoculars and microscopes, they also discover the differences and adaptations in leaf structure.
The tropism of plants is also explored. Pupils investigate the stimuli that trigger movement and the benefits that movement brings.
