Education

The Institute of Building Construction and Timber Structures is represented with a variety of subjects in the bachelor and master studies of different courses of study at the Technical University of Braunschweig. In the bachelor' s degree course, the subjects "building construction", "masonry", "building physics" and of course "timber construction" are taught. In the master's degree course, more in-depth knowledge in the field of timber engineering is taught. The task and objective of our educational program is at the same time to convey theoretical basics as well as their application in practice. In addition to imparting knowledge, we have made it our task to prepare the aspiring engineers for their practical work, in which they have to work independently on various problems by doing a large number of homework and defend them in a colloquium.

General consultation hours

For general questions about studying and as a consultation hour for architecture students, we offer a general consultation hour on Wednesdays from 08:30 - 09:00 in the semester.

You can reach them digitally after registration at: https://webconf.tu-bs.de/yan-icl-zcr-edr

Please send the questions in advanc:  ibholz@tu-braunschweig.de

Lecture series on sustainability in construction

Lecturer: varying according to subject area

Scope: 2 SWS 2LP recommended for: 2-6th semester (summer term)

Qualification goals:

In the summer semester, the Faculty of Civil Engineering offers a lecture series on sustainability in construction, which is organised by the Institute of Building Design and Timber Construction. Students acquire an understanding of the fundamental principles of sustainable planning and construction. After an introduction to relevant aspects such as CO2 emissions in the construction sector ("grey" emissions), resource and energy efficiency, circular economy and life cycle analyses, students deepen their knowledge in special lectures at the institutes, which deal with the feasibility of sustainability in various disciplines of civil engineering.

Examination modalities: Written exam 60 min.
