The Graduate Academy’s journey began in 2015, when the six faculties agreed to jointly establish and develop the GradTUBS Graduate Academy. Since then, GradTUBS has offered an extensive programme of workshops and events for all PhD researchers at TU Braunschweig, and since 2021 also for PhD researchers at the University of Art Braunschweig.
Currently, about 1,100 registered PhD researchers make use of the programme, which is constantly evolving. It now consists of five components that cover the wide range of challenges – from disciplinary skills to personal well‑being. Additionally the option of a coaching exists.
The journey to the PhD islands begins with a welcome from Prof. Ulrich Römer, chairperson of the GradTUBS council, followed by an inspirational talk on personal well‑being by the happiness researcher Tobias Rahm. Afterwards, everyone can explore the different islands, discuss and receive advice on PhD‑related topics, meet key players in the doctoral process, and make direct contact with the GradTUBS crew.
Next, there will be a lecture by Prof. Martin Korte, preceded by a greeting from President Ittel. The event concludes with a champagne reception, to which all are invited.
The aim of this event is to celebrate not only the achievements of GradTUBS, but also the PhD researchers at TU Braunschweig who contribute to bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to the university and research. For 10 years now, GradTUBS has been providing advice and support to PhD researchers and offering formats that enable PhD researchers to develop personally and professionally.
