Car park management at the TU Braunschweig

Parking management

TU Braunschweig will soon be introducing a modern car park management system. This system is designed to make the use of our car parks more efficient and fairer. With the new parking management system, you will be able to register online and manage your parking authorisations conveniently.

New Parking management

In our FAQ section, you can find frequently asked questions and answers about the parking management system.

When will the parking management begin, and how can I find out what happens next?

Preparations and testing will begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. The regular parking management is expected to start in the first quarter of 2026. Information about the start of registration and other necessary information or changes will be provided on this website, in circulars, and in “The Week at TU Braunschweig.”

How do I register myself and my vehicle?

Registration takes place via a user-friendly online platform where you can enter your user ID and licence plate number. The parking fees can be paid online as well.

As soon as registration is possible, TU members will be informed by circular letter and the internal newsletter  “The Week at TU Braunschweig.”

How much are the parking fees and how do I pay them?

The parking fee is €10 per month and can be paid online. Parking fees can be paid by the calendar month, annually or by subscription. The fee is used to finance the necessary technical system for parking space control; the TU itself does not earn anything from it.

Particular groups of people, such as the severely disabled, can be exempt from payment, and there will be special registration options for company cars, service staff and guests. In addition, there will be hardship regulations.

Can I register more than one vehicle?

Yes, users can register multiple license plates. For example, carpoolers can share one registration, and second cars can be registered as well. However, it is important to note that only one of the registered vehicles may be parked in the parking spaces at any one time.

Do all TU members have to pay parking fees?

Only those who wish to use the parking spaces at TU Braunschweig are required to pay parking fees.

How does parking enforcement work?

Parking enforcement is fully automated using cameras and database comparisons so that unauthorised vehicles can be detected and, if necessary, fines can be imposed for unauthorized parking.

What happens to my data?

During automated number plate recognition, personal data of vehicle owners is processed in order to ensure proper use of the car parks. The data is processed cloud-based in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Compliance with data protection guidelines by external providers is checked by the TU's data protection officer. External visitors are informed about the recording of number plates via signs at the entrances.

Which car parks are affected by the parking management?

Parking management will be introduced in all car parks belonging to TU Braunschweig.
