Social and institutional factors influencing the role identities of communicating researchers

Communicating research results to a broader public is becoming increasingly important in the professional lives of many scientists. What role does the self-image as a scientist (professional identity) play in this? Are social structures and processes at research institutions related to the importance of science communication in one's professional image? Which professional (and private) relationships have the greatest influence on the composition of professional identities? Lennart Banse addresses these and other questions in his cumulative dissertation within the framework of the junior research group fourC.
