A special emphasis lies on the interdisciplinary field of Engineering for Health, in which new strategies for biomedical research are being developed: from neurodegenerative diseases and infectious diseases to drug research and the analysis of metabolic pathways and products. Molecular biotechnology and antibody engineering are further strengths, with the aim of developing innovative therapies.  In chemistry, researchers pioneer new materials and sustainable technologies for the energy transition and beyond. Braunschweig’s food chemistry is globally recognized for excellence in food analytics and flavor research. The pharmacy department focuses on drug discovery and advanced drug delivery systems, while psychology at TU Braunschweig excels in applied research areas such as work, organizational behavior, transportation, and health psychology.

Through close partnerships with leading institutions like the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI), the German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures (DSMZ) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Faculty of Life Sciences offers an outstanding research environment for students and scientists alike.
