The project’s level of complexity will significantly be increased in comparison to the requirements of the first funding period. First, the subject is extended to the case of a real 3D wing, which means that the design of a realistic droop nose structure is of great importance. Second, unusual strain and stress sequences occur, since high strains caused by overall wing bending at the droop nose are superimposed with high and differently oriented strains resulting from morphing at much lower frequencies. Third, more realistic challenges like lightning strike or deicing will be taken into account.
