Storytelling in the application process

05 December 2025, 09:00 - 16:30 [Career Service und Alumni]

Discover how storytelling can transform facts into compelling, personal narratives that stick in people's minds and build trust. In our workshop, you will learn how to develop your own unique story, structure it effectively, and use it strategically in your professional life—from job interviews to assessment centers.

Target group: Students of all semesters and disciplines, as well as doctoral candidates and graduates in the early stages of their careers.

Language: German

The following program items are planned:

  • Storytelling basics: You will receive a compact introduction to the methods and develop your first mini-stories in small groups.
  • Feedback 1 × 1: You will practice giving and requesting constructive feedback – with practical relevance for all situations in life.
  • Core element “In-depth storytelling”: Intensive work on your personal narrative. Together, we will identify your strengths, common thread, and leitmotifs. You will incorporate anecdotes, humor, and emotions and present your story, followed by feedback.
  • Career anchors & values: Based on Edgar Schein's model, we will develop your professional anchors and personal values to ensure that your story remains authentic.
  • Transfer into practice: Simulation of job interviews and assessment exercises with reframing techniques for business vocabulary.

Preparation: Expectation survey 2–3 weeks in advance: You will receive a short online questionnaire and a link to an online personality test (16personalities).
