Biography

Lang had been a professor at TU Braunschweig from 1990. After studying at the Universities of Frankfurt and Mainz (Diplom-Volkswirt 76), he worked as a research assistant at the Un to 2019iversity of Duisburg-Essen (doctorate 79) and the Ruhr University Bochum (habilitation 86). At the University of Mannheim he then represented the chair Siebert (international economics) and at the University of the Saarland the chair Stützel (money, currency and credit). He rejected a call to the University of Greifswald ( structural change, growth and trade) in 1997.

International teaching and research led him in 1985 to TongJi University in Shanghai / China, to TU Sofia / Bulgaria (since 90), to the Lviv and Kiev / Ukraine Bank Universities (since 03), to Nekrassov University Kostroma / Russia (since 05), but also in the Netherlands (Utrecht and Vlissingen since 83) and Great Britain (Bradford 87). He has been working at the Faculty of German Engineering and Business Administration (FDIBA) of the TU-Sofia since its foundation in 1990, where he coordinated the subjects of economics until 2019. He received medals of merit, honorary doctorates and an honorary professorship for these engagements.

In his early work he deals with spatial problems, dynamic analyzes on monetary and monetary policy issues as well as the externally induced structural change. After 1989 he devoted himself to the problems of the transformation process. Based on this, he worked as an advisor to domestic and foreign companies. His current fields of research are, in addition to international and spatial economic relations, the determinants and problem areas of technical change (including Industry 4.0) and forms of neoprotectionism. In this context, he evaluates his experience from many years of operational activity in the business practice.

He is member of the editorial board of the Journal "Herald of Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics (KNUTE)" (ISSN 1727-9313), "Visnyk KNTEU" of the Kiev National University of Trade and Economics/Kiew and of The Journal "Virtual Economics" of the London Akademy of Science and Business. He is also engaged as Policy Fellow of the IZA Institute for the Future of Labor and a member of the GLO Advisory Board of the Global Labor Organization (GLO). In addition, he participates in advisory councils of the economy and education.
