On Friday, November 21, 2025, the newly founded Regional Economics Research Cluster was officially launched. The aim of this cluster is to network the nine economics professors from the Braunschweig area in order to undertake joint research projects and identify shared interests. Members of this cluster are the Technical University of Braunschweig, the Technical University of Clausthal, the University of Hildesheim, the Thünen Institute, and the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in Wolfsburg and Salzgitter.
