On May 22 and 23, 2026, the Bundesbank Workshop for Young Scientists on Applied Economics was held at the Bundesbank in Hanover. Prof. Ludwig from the Department of Economics is one of the organizers inviting doctoral students, postdocs, and assistant professors to present their work at the workshop.

In early May, our colleague Diana Zarbailova attended the KIZ Young Scholar Workshop on Political Economy at the University of Leipzig, which was organized and hosted by Sebastian Blesse and his team (University of Leipzig). Prof. Dr. Felix Rösel (Technical University of Braunschweig) and Mona Foertsch (ifo Institute Dresden) have published the article “How contagious are health shocks on political outcomes? Evidence from the 1918 Spanish flu in Germany” in the journal "Papers in Regional Science". The paper examines whether and how health crises affect politics.

On April 9, 2026, as part of the lecture series “Braunschweig Seminar on Economics, Politics & Practice,” Prof. Dr. Joachim Weimann will give a lecture on “The crucial issue of climate policy and the role of narratives” at the House of Science.

In the Summer Semester 2026 (SoSe 26), we will offer three Master’s seminars: "Machine Learning Applications in Economics", "The Economics of Environment and Conflict", "The Rise of Robots and its Economic Impacts".
