New DFG project at the Institute of Economics

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved Prof. Dr. Markus Ludwig's proposal "Metal Trade, Empires, and War: New Data and Methods in Early Economic History." The project investigates economic and political interdependencies in the Bronze Age and develops data-driven methods to analyze trade networks, conflicts, and state-building processes.

New study on local elites and municipal finances

Felix Rösel has published a new article in the journal FinanzArchiv. The study, based on mayors dismissed by the Nazis and reinstated by the Allies after World War II, shows that fiscal policy decisions are more strongly influenced by political elites than by geographical or demographic factors.
