Open Access refers to free, worldwide, cost-free and persistent access to scientific information on the Internet. The full-text content can be freely read, downloaded, copied, distributed, and printed. The authors' copyrights remain unaffected, applying CC licenses defines the free rights to use the publications.
Open Access publications are easier to find on the Internet, increase the visibility of authors within and outside their research fields, and lead to a higher citation frequency.
TU Braunschweig supports its researchers in Open Access publishing. The Governance Board of TU Braunschweig has mandated the University Library to take responsibility for the topic of Open Access at TU Braunschweig as a central player and to further develop it both strategically and operationally. Accordingly, the University Library offers comprehensive services related to Open Access publishing:
Managing publication funds to finance articles in Open Access journals (APC) and Open Access books (BPC).
Supporting the selection of a suitable journal or publisher for Open Access primary publications (Gold OA)
Using publisher and membership discounts (e.g. DEAL)
Selfarchiving of previously published literature (Green OA)
Advice on the allocation of appropriate licenses (CC licenses)
Open Access workshops

LeoPARD (TU Braunschweig Publications And Research Data) is the official institutional repository of TU Braunschweig and is operated by the University Library. It enables the publication of research results and documentation of researchers of TU Braunschweig (primary and self-archived publications as well as research data), of special collections of TU Braunschweig and of regional institutions as well as of digitized testimonies of the regional cultural heritage. As part of this, Braunschweig University Library provides on LeoPARD access to contemporary historical documents from its own collections for academic purposes, research and teaching. These collections are not subject to evaluation or censorship by Braunschweig University Library (see Guidelines for Publishing on LeoPARD).
LeoPARD provides the organizational and technical framework to ensure the permanent availability of the published items. Information on publishing is available under Notes for Authors.
Bibliometrics deals with the measurement of scientific publications and uses statistical methods to describe publication behaviour. It can be a useful method to increase the visibility of a scientist's research and helps to optimise their publication strategy. We support you in publication and citation analyses.
The Thesis Office of Braunschweig University Library accepts all compulsory deliveries of thesis and habilitation publications produced within TU Braunschweig and provides a certificate which is necessary for the receipt of the Doctoral Certificate. The University Library includes the publications into its collection and makes them available to other libraries.
