Landesstipendium Niedersachsen 2025

 

The Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture (MWK) provides financial funds for up to 179 scholarships for:

  • first-generation students of TU Braunschweig or
  • students who have difficult conditions of studying due to escape (academic refugees).
  • special social reasons (e.g. voluntary work in academic or student self-administration, outstanding voluntary activities, difficult financial situation of large families)

The scholarships are awarded performance-based.

In addition to numerous other volunteer positions, student participation in university committees and commissions is also eligible for this funding.

The scholarship amount is 500.00 euros as a one-time payment in the winter semester 2025/26 (regardless of the degree you are aiming for).

 

 

Who can apply?

You can apply for the Landesstipendium if:

  • you are enrolled at the TU Braunschweig in the winter semester 2025/26
  • you are studying a Bachelor's, Master's or State Examination degree program,
  • you are in the standard period of study during the funding period and are not on leave of absence and
    • you are the first in your family to attend a university (first generation) or
    • you have particularly difficult starting and/or general conditions for studying due to flight (academisc refugee) or
    • social reasons play a role (e.g. a strained financial situation of families with many children, outstanding voluntary commitment (e.g. participation in student committees and commissions)

 

Application

The application period for winter semester 2025/26 will be from 20th ocotber 2025 to 10th november 2025, 23:59. Please use the scholarship portal on stipendien.tu-braunschweig.de to apply for the Landesstipendium.

The online application:

Your complete application includes:

  • a motivation letter,
  • confirmation of enrollment
  • transcript of records

 

The Motivation letter

Your motivation letter helps the selection committee to learn more about you as a person, about your academic achievements, your study plans, or the underlying motivation for you to have chosen a particular study programme. The selection committee uses the letter of motivation as an additional selection criterion in case two or more similar candidates compete for one scholarship.

 

Information on Academic Performance

Relevant for the Landesstipendium 2025 are your academic records of the last two semesters prior to your application (winter semester 2024/25 and summer semester 2025). In the application process, you will be asked to calculate your weighted average grade. Please calculate the average grade yourself using your individual grades and the corresponding credit points.

 

The following grades are relevant for the calculation:

If you are already enrolled in a Bachelor or Master programme: each grade that is relevant for your final grade needs to be included into your calculation. Coursework that were not graded or is irrelevant to your final grade should not be included. Please send your transcript of records as an attachment.

If you are a new student (first semester) in a Bachelor or Staatsexamen programme, please enter your final grade of your high school diploma (Abitur) and send the high school diploma as an attachment.

If you are studying in the first semester of a Master programme, please enter your final Bachelor grade and send your Bachelor's diploma including grades as an attachment.

Please specify at "Leistungspunkte" the total of your credits of the last two semesters. If you are starting a Bachelor or Master programme (first semester), please enter "180".

 

The Selection Process

The selection is based on the academic performance / high school performance as well as the letter of motivation.

 

When can I expect a response?

You can expect a response by mail and through the scholarship portal in december.

 

Please note: Only complete online applications submitted in time will be considered! Applications by e-mail are not accepted. Missing documents automatically lead to rejection of your application!
