IGF project named Project of the Year 2025 by GVT

The IGF project “Recovery of Recyclable Materials Using Wiped Film Evaporation” conducted by the Institute of Chemical and Thermal Process Engineering (ICTV) at the Technical University of Braunschweig was named “GVT Project of the Year 2025” by the Research Advisory Board of the Research Association for Process Engineering (GVT). This honor is awarded annually for outstanding scientific work with high practical relevance in process engineering.

The project, led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Scholl and Dr.-Ing. Katharina Jasch and carried out by David Appelhaus, focused on the efficient recovery of solvents using thin-film evaporation—a technology that is particularly important for the gentle separation of highly viscous and thermally sensitive material systems.

In addition to the Technical University of Braunschweig, the project was supported and scientifically accompanied by numerous companies within the project committee. The following were involved:

  • Pfaudler Normag Systems GmbH
  • IPRO Industrieprojekte GmbH
  • Bayer AG
  • ILUDEST Destillationsanlagen GmbH
  • Covestro Deutschlag AG
  • BASF SE

as well as other companies from the chemical industry and plant engineering sectors.
