History of Science
Research in the Division for the history of sciences and pharmacy combines historical research with natural sciences. We investigate the dynamics of scientific knowledge, especially in the field of life sciences: How does scientific knowledge change in the context of science, politics and society? Individual projects focus on the history of bioactive compounds (biologics), on the history of hazardous and precarious substances (mutagens, food additives and psychoactive substances), on the history of early medical patent law and on gender studies in the history of science.
