NeuroPeers@TU Student Network

The student network is intended to be a Safer Space at TU Braunschweig where people experiencing mental health and/or neurodivergent challenges can simply talk when they feel like it – freely, openly, without judgment or expectations. It is not about therapy, diagnosis, or finding concrete solutions to problems, but rather about creating a space for conversation on an equal footing.

The aim is to create a place where conversation comes first – without pressure, without an obligation to make small talk, but also without an atmosphere of silent withdrawal. Simply a place where you can say:

“I just need someone to listen to me for a moment.”

Key principles:

  • Openness and voluntariness: No one has to speak, but everyone is welcome to – as much or as little as they want.
  • Confidentiality: What is shared in the room stays in the room! Personal content is treated respectfully and confidentially and is not shared without consent.
  • No therapy: Instead, the network offers an opportunity for conversation on an equal footing.
  • Recognition of diversity: There are many forms of invisible challenges – and everyone is welcome.
  • Dialogue comes first: Listening, sharing, and finding relief through being together.
  • Facilitation: The first meetings will be facilitated by a student who has personal experience with these challenges.

The network is aimed at TU students who experience:

  • Neurodivergence, e.g. ADHD or autism
  • Mental health challenges, e.g. depression or social anxiety
  • Sensory overload, feeling overwhelmed, or difficulties coping with the demands of student life
  • A desire to exchange experiences with other students who have had similar experiences

A diagnosis is not required.
