You will receive all important information about the start of the semester at the beginning of March/September in your TU e-mail. Check it regularly!

• 01 October 2025: Start of the winter semester 2025/2026
• Monday, 20 October 2025: Start of courses (start of lectures)
• 01 April 2026: Start of the summer semester 2026
• Tuesday, 07 April 2026: Start of the courses (start of lectures)

Information on the semester dates for upcoming semesters

The orientation week of the department takes place in the week before the start of lectures (13 October - 17 October).

You will receive information at the beginning of the semester via the study programme mailing list.

Registration for courses takes place during the orientation week. Registration for courses at the Department of Social Sciences is done via Stud.IP, unless otherwise stated in the course catalog.

To access Stud.IP , you need a y-number, which you will receive when you enrol via TUConnect.

What is a y-number? This is the number with which you can print at the university and also use the TU-wide W-LAN. You will also receive a name@tu-bs.de e-mail address. You should activate the e-mail address as early as possible in order to receive all information about the start of the semester etc.

In the Gauß-IT-Zentrum, the computer centre of the TU, you will find all the important information about the IT services (Y-number, VPN, print account, free software etc.) that you can use during your studies.

Questions or problems may arise from time to time during your studies. Please feel free to contact us directly. The examination office and the study program coordination are at your disposal.
