The value of information in multimodal transportation coordination.
As part of the SE²A research cluster, this project examines the role of information in planning and coordinating multimodal transport chains, such as trips from a passenger’s home to the airport. The central question is whether there is a practical limit where the benefits of using additional information no longer justify the costs of acquiring it. The goal is to better understand which data are essential for coordination and which are optional or too costly to obtain, especially when considering legal and sustainability aspects. The research stay at the Crowley Center for Transportation and Logistics at the University of North Florida supports this work with insights from logistics and supply chain management. The project at UNF focuses on two main areas:
This work forms part of a broader simulation framework and research being conducted at TU Braunschweig to evaluate how new air transport systems may influence the existing transportation system.
