In the field of engineering, Functional Safety (FuSa) describes measures, test cases, procedures and premises to prevent harm to people caused by errors in E/E systems or to reduce them to a sufficiently low level. In the course of the advancing electrification (e.g.: steer-by-wire) of the automobile and advanced ADAS systems (level 3+), functional safety is becoming increasingly important in the development of E/E systems, as humans are increasingly no longer a fallback level.
This project investigates the extent to which simulation-based methods enable the virtual validation of an existing wiring harness architectures and how this architectures can be algorithmically optimised with regard to functional safety.
