The research group of Alternative Aviation Propulsion investigates innovative alternatives to fossil fuels and effective strategies for mitigating pollutant formation in thermochemical energy conversion systems. Our primary focus is advancing the utilization of carbon-neutral and carbon-free synthetic fuels, such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAFs), hydrogen, and their blends. To achieve this, we employ high-fidelity numerical simulations to comprehensively investigate turbulent multiphase combustion processes.
By gaining deep insights into the combustion properties and pollutant formation, our goal is to facilitate a smooth and rapid transition towards greener and more eco-friendly aviation propulsion systems, reducing their environmental impact.
