Research Associate / Doctoral Candidate (m/f/d) in the field of fire dynamics
(EG 13 TV-L, full-time)

The position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis for an initial period of 3 years. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to pursue a doctorate.

The Fire Safety Division at the Institute for Building Materials, Concrete Construction, and Fire Safety (iBMB) researches the fire safety of building components and structures, the fire dynamics of enclosures, and prepares fire safety analyses. The Fire Research Center (ZeBra) offers unique opportunities in Europe for investigating fire dynamics and fire behavior on various scales.

Your tasks

• You will carry out research in the field of fire dynamics on the fire behavior of combustible materials and/or batteries, perform fire tests and numerical analyses
• You will apply for and work on research projects
• You will publish research findings and participate in national and international conferences
• You will be involved in teaching at the University (preparation and implementation of courses as well as supervision of students’ work).

Your Qualifications

• You have a degree (Master’s or equivalent) in fire safety engineering, civil engineering, natural science or comparable
• You have very good knowledge of the German and English language
• You are interested in conducting fire tests and have experience in using simulation programs
• You are flexible, can perform under pressure and work well in a team
• You are aiming for a doctorate.
