Parking regulations

The Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) and the University’s parking regulations apply to the parking areas of TU Braunschweig. Violations will be strictly penalised.

Important rules and consequences in the parking guidance system

Parking without a valid parking permit

Anyone parking without a valid ticket is committing a breach of contract.

Consequences: €40 penalty

Also applies to:

  • expired day ticket
  • unregistered vehicle
  • simultaneous use of multiple vehicles under the same user account

Note:

Tickets can be paid retrospectively up to 48 hours after leaving the car park.

Illegal parking & towing

Reasons for towing:

  • Parking in fire brigade access routes
  • Parking obstructing traffic
  • Parking on unmarked areas (e.g. green spaces, pavements)
  • Parking on special areas without authorisation (e.g. disabled parking spaces)
  • Parking of unregistered or inoperable vehicles

Note:

The cost of towing is borne by the vehicle owner.

Misuse of parking permits

Parking spaces may only be used by authorised university members and guests.

Not permitted:

  • Use by non-university members via the user accounts of university members
  • Use of registered vehicles by unauthorised persons
  • Long-term parking without a university-related reason
  • Parking for several days without a justified and approved exception

Consequences:

  • Request for proof of authorisation
  • Revocation of parking authorisation
  • Suspension of the user account

Exceeding the permitted parking duration

  • Vehicles with long-term or monthly tickets may be parked for a maximum of 24 hours continuously
  • Parking for several days is permitted only in justified exceptional cases (e.g. business trips)
  • In the event of a breach, parking authorisation may be revoked

Special regulations

Electric charging points

  • Use exclusively for service vehicles for charging purposes
  • Private vehicles are not permitted to park or charge
