Change of examination regulations, winter semester 2022/23

General Info | Deadlines | Transitional Arrangements

As part of the reaccreditation of the study programmes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 2021, the curricula were revised. Particularly in the Bachelor's degree programmes, among other things, study content was supplemented with current aspects, such as digitalisation and sustainability, and the structure of the degree programmes was optimised.

As a result, new examination regulations (PO 2022) will be introduced at the beginning of the winter semester 2022/23.
They apply to the Bachelor's degree programmes

  • Mechanical Engineering | Industrial Engineering |Bio, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering

and the Master's degree programmes

  • Mechanical Engineering | Automotive Engineering and Mobile Systems (formerly Automotive Engineering) | Aerospace Engineering | Industrial Engineering | Biochemical and Chemical Engineering.

The respective applicable transitional regulation depends on the current duration of studies (see § 15 of the respective new examination regulation):

  1. Students who are within the standard duration of study plus two semesters on 30 September 2023 will automatically be transferred to the new examination regulation on 01 October 2023. Upon application, this change is also possible earlier.
An application to remain in the old examination regulation must be submitted until 29 September 2023 at the latest. In this case, the examination entitlement for Bachelor's degree programmes expires on 31.03.2026, for Master's degree programmes on 31.03.2025.
  2. Students who are outside the standard period of study plus two semesters on 30 September 2023 can complete their studies within the old examination regulation until 30 September 2023. There is no automatic change to the new examination regulation. Such a change must be applied before 30 September 2023.

Applications to the respective examination board will soon be possible via an online application form. Students will be informed by e-mail as soon as the application portal is activated.

When changing to the new examination regulation, previous study achievements that have already been completed can be recognised.

Please note the programme-specific information listed to the right.
