Area Acoustics

Schalldruckpegel Flugzeugkabine

The Professorship for Acoustics searches for quiet technical solutions and measures to reduce noise in a wide range of applications. The work focuses on fundamental technology development and low-noise product development. Through structural modifications, innovative damping measures, numerical methodology and in-house software development, we develop robust sound models and enable modeling and noise assessment for quieter systems.

Current research areas

  • Efficient numerical simulation methods
  • Material characterization
  • Noise reduction through innovative damping measures
  • Auralization of vibroacoustic problems
  • Physical and perception-based noise evaluation

Fields of application

  • Interior and exterior aircraft noise
  • Acoustic black holes
  • Helmholtz resonators
  • Efficient finite element simulations
