Additional examinations must be registered before taking the final exam required to complete the degree programme and may be taken until the end of the relevant semester.

If you wish to take an additional examination, please submit the form "Registration for additional examinations" to the Examination Office.

If you would like the additional examination(s) to be included in your certificate, please submit the form "Application for the inclusion of additional courses in the certificate" to the Examination Office by the time you complete the final achievement for graduation.

The results of additional examinations are not considered in the final grade. If the last examination or coursework required for graduation takes place at the beginning of a semester, but the requested additional examination is not scheduled until the end of the semester, the issuance of the degree documents will be delayed accordingly. Provisional degree documents are not issued.

Additional examinations completed during the Bachelor's programme may be recognized in the Master's programme for a maximum of 36 ECTS. An application for recognition must be submitted after enrollment in the Master's programme.

Please note that no credits required for the completion of the previous Bachelor's program will be considered.

Please use the appropriate form "Application for recognition of achievements in the Master's degree programme, which were acquired during the Bachelor's programme".

In the degree programs of AIMS, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry/Chemical Biology, and Food Chemistry, achievements from the Language Center can be recognized. Table of recognized language courses. The table refers exclusively to language courses from the Language Center of TU Braunschweig. For inquiries regarding the recognition of externally completed language courses, please contact the programme coordination responsible for your field of study.

A leave of absence is only permitted for full semesters.

According to the Enrolment Regulations, students are not entitled to attend courses, complete coursework and academic achievements or take examinations during a leave of absence. Achievements made during a leave of absence are neither recognised nor credited.

Notwithstanding this, in the event of a leave of absence in accordance with § 20 (2) No. 5 of the Regulations of enrolment, the work completed during the Lab course and equivalent examination and study achievements in accordance with No. 6 will be recognised by the responsible office (in the following semester) upon written application by the student in accordance with the relevant examination regulations.

Students who are on leave of absence in accordance with § 20 (2) No. 6 of the Enrolment Regulations (stay abroad) may take examinations at the university, provided that the stay abroad has already been completed at the time of the examination.

You will be refunded your paid contributions and fees if you withdraw within one month after the start of the lecture period. For more information, see Student Office.

Information from the Family Office of TU Braunschweig:

Since January 1, 2018, the Maternity Protection Act (MuSchG) also applies to female students. In order for TU Braunschweig to establish appropriate protection measures, a pregnant student should inform the university as early as possible about her expected due date and any subsequent breastfeeding period (§ 15 MuSchG).

If you do not disclose your pregnancy, you will not be able to take advantage of the corresponding regulations. The notification of a pregnancy is made using the document "Notification of Pregnancy" which you can find on the website of the Family Office under the section “Maternity Protection for Students” and submit completed to the Examination Office of the Faculty of Life Sciences.

The Family Office website also provides additional information on topics related to pregnancy and the compatibility of family and studies. You are also welcome to contact the Family Office for a personal consultation.

You can participate in exams as a guest auditor. To do this, a guest auditor application must be submitted to the Student Office (new for each semester!). As guest auditor, you may complete up to 8 SWS (weekly semester hours) per semester (the corresponding courses must be specified when applying).
With the guest auditor ID, you are entitled to participate in the requested courses, provided that the teaching stuff agrees to your participation in the exam. The participation fee is €75 per hour (fee and payment regulations for guest auditors at the TU Braunschweig, No. 628, 14.07.2009). Guest auditor semesters will not be credited towards later enrollment semesters: Examinations that are completed as part of guest status can be recognized for a degree programme.

Often, certified copies of documents must be submitted, e.g. to the Examination Office or Student Office. This is a security measure that verifies, from a neutral standpoint, that a created copy matches the original.

The Examination Office does not provide notarisations.

Among other things, you can have documents notarised at the StudierendenWerk Ostniedersachsen.

Please note that notarisations are generally subject to a fee.

Certificate or Certificate of grades?
In principle, a certified copy of the Bachelor's certificate must be enclosed with the application documents. However, if this has not yet been issued, a certificate of grades can be submitted first.

The following applies: Students who have already completed their Bachelor's degree at TU Braunschweig submit a certificate of grades generated in TU connect that is not stamped or signed. The staff at the Enrolment Office and Student Service Centre know that a certified copy of a grade certificate is not required for internal applications.

Students who have completed their Bachelor's degree at another university must submit a certified copy of their certificate of grades.

However, the certified copy of the Bachelor's certificate must then be submitted later.

Anyone who uses falsified medical certificates is liable to prosecution under § 279 of the German Criminal Code (Strafgesetzbuch).

§ 279 Use of false health certificates

Anyone who makes use of a health certificate of the type specified in § 277 and 278 to deceive in legal transactions is liable to a custodial sentence not exceeding one year or a monetary penalty, unless the offence is punishable by a more severe penalty under other provisions of this section.

The Examination Office will investigate any suspicion and report it if there is evidence to support it!

Please bear in mind that a conviction can have far-reaching consequences and also results in an entry in your criminal record.
