If registration for the examination is not possible for technical reasons, the examination must be registered by email with the Examination Office by the deadline. The same applies to deregister from examinations.
Exchange students should register for an examination via TUconnect if possible. If this is not possible, registration must be made directly with the examiner.
Guest students must register for examinations at the Examination Office. Further information can be found under the heading Miscellaneous / Guest Students.
You cannot register for examinations of the pool model via TU connect or the Examination Office. Please contact the examiner directly for registration and ask him to issue you a certificate upon successful completion. Please submit this certificate to the examination office.

Definitions:
Deregistration (Abmelden): Before the expiry of the deregistration period specified in the APO, you may deregister from an examination without giving reasons.
Withdrawal (Rücktritt): After the expiry of the deregistration period specified in the APO, you may only withdraw from an examination if you provide a valid reason and supporting evidence, e. g. a medical certificate. The reasons for withdrawal must be reported to the Examination Board or the Examination Office without delay, i. e. without culpable hesitation (= at the earliest possible opportunity). They will be examined by the respective Examination Board, which will decide whether they justify withdrawal. If not, the examination in question is deemed to have been graded "nicht ausreichend/non-sufficient”.
Failure to attend (Versäumnis): You did not attend an examination. The reasons for your absence must be reported to the Examination Board or the Examination Office immediately, i. e. without culpable delay (= at the earliest possible opportunity), otherwise, the examination in question is deemed to have been graded "nicht ausreichend/non-sufficient". Appropriate evidence, e. g. a medical certificate, must be submitted immediately. The reasons for the absence will be examined by the relevant Examination Board, which will decide whether they justify the absence. If not, the examination in question is deemed to have been graded "nicht ausreichend/non-sufficient".
In the case of technical problems with the online registration or deregistration, please contact the Examinations Office before the deadlines mentioned above. Please send an email to the Examinations Office immediately after you notice a technical problem. Every report of an error will be followed up by the Examinations Office.
Direct registration or deregistration with the examiner or the Dean´s Office are not permitted.
If you are ill on the examination date, you may withdraw from a registered examination in accordance with Section 11 (3) APO. The withdrawal must be declared to the Examination Board or the Examination Office without delay, i. e. without culpable hesitation (= at the earliest possible opportunity). The relevant medical certificate* (original with stamp and signature) for the day of the examination must also be submitted to the Examination Office without delay, i. e. without culpable hesitation (= at the earliest possible opportunity). Otherwise, the examination in question is deemed to have been graded "nicht ausreichend/non-sufficient"!
You will find a form for a corresponding medical certificate* or a certificate of inability to take the examination in our forms section.
* Unlike a certificate of incapacity for work, a medical certificate has to be significant enough to enable the Examination Board to determine the cause, degree, nature and, if applicable, the duration of the impairment.
The illness of a child or close relative* for whom the student is primarily responsible is treated in the same way as the student's own illness. This means that you must submit a medical certificate for the person who is ill. If the person who is ill is a close relative, you must also submit official proof that you are responsible for their care.
* Close relatives include: grandparents, parents, parents-in-law, step-parents, spouses, partners in a marriage-like or civil partnership-like relationship, life partners, siblings, children (including adopted or foster children and the children, adopted or foster children of the spouse or life partner), children-in-law, grandchildren, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Relatives not listed here, such as uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, are not considered close relatives.
You can send the medical certificate to the Examination Office by post (please take postage times into account!). It is therefore advisable to send the medical certificate to the Examination Office in advance by email so that your action is still considered as immediately. The original must also be submitted immediately.
If you become ill during the examination, you can still withdraw from the exam. In this case, the withdrawal must be explicitly communicated to the supervising person immediately, consult a doctor without delay (i.e. on the same day) and submit a medical certificate to the Examination Office.
If you are already ill but only realise during the examination how much your illness is affecting you, proceed as described above.
If you continue and still take the exam, submit your work (and wait for the result of the exam), you cannot withdraw from the exam on the grounds of illness.
Anyone who uses falsified medical certificates is liable to prosecution under § 279 of the German Criminal Code (Strafgesetzbuch).
§ 279 Use of false health certificates
Anyone who makes use of a health certificate of the type specified in § 277 and 278 to deceive in legal transactions is liable to a custodial sentence not exceeding one year or a monetary penalty, unless the offence is punishable by a more severe penalty under other provisions of this section.
The Examination Office will investigate any suspicion and report it if there is evidence to support it!
Please bear in mind that a conviction can have far-reaching consequences and also results in an entry in your criminal record.
If you pass an exam on your first attempt within the standard period of study and would like to improve your result, you can only do so if you take the repeat exam by the end of the semester after next at the latest (the exam date applies!). The better result will be counted.
In both cases, students register to retake the exam via TU connect.
A supplementary oral examination is required if a written examination or written examination+ is not passed in the 3rd attempt (§ 13 (5) APO). For other forms of examination, such as examinations that were taken orally from the outset, the supplementary oral examination is not applicable.
The same applies if the 3rd attempt is deemed to have been failed due to unexcused non-attendance or cheating (§ 11 (2) and (4) APO).
The following applies to the supplementary oral examination:
The special examination regulations are always decisive for the awarding of credit points.
