The entire transport system in view: Mobility and transport are an essential driver of growth and employment in our highly specialised economy.

As a mass phenomenon, however, transport creates considerable problems that can only be overcome with innovative methods and techniques.

What is special about TU Braunschweig?

Transportation Engineering deals with the technology and organisation of various transport systems. How do people and goods get from A to B quickly, energy-efficiently, environmentally friendly and safely? Since there is unlikely to be less traffic on motorways, train and air routes in the future, traffic engineers are in great demand.

Interdisciplinary qualifications are required for the development of future-oriented mobility concepts and traffic planning: knowledge from the fields of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, communication technology and economics are the basis.

Studying at TU Braunschweig offers you an interdisciplinary Master‘s degree programme with the best framework conditions. Braunschweig is considered a region of transport expertise. Companies in automotive engineering and railway engineering are located here, as are aerospace research centres such as the Federal Aviation Authority, the German Aerospace Centre or the research airport.

Your individual profile

In the Master's degree programme, which directly follows the Bachelor's degree programme, you design your studies according to your personal interests and individual inclinations and thus compile the profile for your later professional field.

In the basic area of the Master's degree programme in Transportation Engineering, you expand your basic knowledge in the topics of mobility and transport. Furthermore, you decide on two specialisations. Interesting specialisation options are open to you here. You can choose from the following specialisations

Aviation
Automotive Engineering
Track-Guided Transportation Systems
Transport Planning and Local Public Transport
Specialisation of your own choice (also from other faculties)

In the professionalisation area, you will acquire key competences that are helpful in your everyday professional life. This includes excursions and specialised lectures. You will deepen your professional knowledge in the context of a specialised internship.

At the end of the Master's programme, you will submit a scientific research paper with your Master's thesis. Here you can use the existing contacts to national and international universities and companies and carry out your Master's thesis there. Many of our students make their first contacts with their future employer this way.

Transport engineers find work in the planning, project planning, development and educational institutions of the transport sector, especially with municipalities, with logistics and transport companies, in aviation and shipping, in industry and even in the strategy departments of automotive groups. This results in versatile fields of work in the areas of:

Mobility and transport research
Spatial, urban and traffic planning
Construction and manufacturing of transport infrastructure (rail, road, water)
Construction and manufacture of means of transport (rail, road, air vehicles)
Safety, testing and certification
Traffic management and telematics
Traffic, transport management and logistics.
