Keeping an eye on the environment: What happens when you fertilise a field? The plants grow better. But what effects does the fertiliser have on the soil, the groundwater, the atmosphere? These are the kinds of questions you deal with as an environmental scientist.

If you are interested in the interrelationships within an ecosystem and the interaction between humans and nature, Environmental Sciences is a great choice.

What is special about TU Braunschweig?

You study which processes take place in ecosystems, how different substances react with each other, how their transport paths run and what effects this has on the environment.

Your main concern is to uncover and solve problems that can arise as a result of human intervention in nature.

In the Master's degree programme in Environmental Sciences, you apply your sound scientific knowledge to special issues from all environmental compartments. You will also learn mathematical methods with which you can model environmental processes. You will apply your knowledge in practice in numerous excursions and field placements.

Specialists for complex environmental interrelationships

The study of environmental sciences at TU Braunschweig is research- and practice-oriented. The results of our geo-ecological research flow directly into the teaching. With only 30-50 students per year, the programme is manageable. The student-friendly atmosphere allows for easy and direct communication between lecturers and students and provides individual support opportunities.

Our regional research focus is between Harz and Heide. International cooperations exist with scientists worldwide.

You will benefit from these contacts, for example when it comes to semesters abroad or excursions. Field placements and excursions are a central part of your studies. Here you test your theoretical knowledge in practice and gain insights into your future professional fields.

With your studies, you will acquire good prerequisites for complex tasks at home and abroad. We are happy to support you in planning a semester abroad.
