Our research focuses on policy analysis, comparative political science and political communication. The team at our chair analyzes stability and change of political decisions in modern industrial states, identifies constellations of explanatory conditions for specific policy outputs and develops strategies to optimize political reform processes. Health policy, transport policy, regional policy and innovation policy form the core content of our research. We use approaches of policy research like the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF), the Multiple Streams Framework (MSF) and the Programmatic Actor Framework (PAF). Our work always combines empirical applications (including variable- or case-oriented research questions) with the aim at further developing the theoretical and methodological instruments of Comparative Politics and Public Policy.

Since October 2014, the chair coordinates the project network Eskalationsforschung zur Kommunikation großer Infrastruktur- und Bauvorhaben (Escalation Research on the Communication of Large Infrastructure and Construction Projects) (in cooperation with jurisprudence, constructional engineering, pedagogical psychology and social psychology at the universities in Braunschweig, Göttingen and Hannover). Within the project network Metapolis - eine inter- und transdisziplinäre Plattform zur nachhaltigen Entwicklung der Stadt-Land-Beziehungen in Niedersachsen (Metapolis - An Inter- and Transdisciplinary Platform for Sustainable Development of Urban-Rural Relations in Lower Saxony) (in cooperation with architectural studies, engineering science, geoecology and business informatics at the universities in braunschweig and Hannover), equally funded by the VolkswagenStiftung, we perform a sub-project since its beginning in 2016. Funded by the BMBF as part of Teach4TU, the innovation project "DemoVE - Demokratie verstehen und erleben", starting in the summer term together with the Institute for Educational Sciences offers an E-Learning event, enabling students to autonomously develop and impart democratic concepts.

Since 2015, we publish the disciplinary journal European Policy Analysis (EPA) with partners from Bern, Muenster and Vienna under the aegis of the American Policy Studies Organization. EPA provides a platform for publishing new research to render visible internationally the European perspectives of this disciple that is yet largely dominanted by the US-American perspective. It thereby ensures high quality on the basis of strict double-blind peer review.

Especially concerning the success of regional educational measures, we realize evaluation projects and participate in ascertaining and analyzing representative surveys and indicators in the field of political science with different collaborators. Latest new can be found on the subpage of News as well as Facebook,YouTube andTwitter .

Lectures and seminars are largely addressed to students of the BA Integrierte Sozialwissenschaften (Integrated Social Sciences) and the MA Organisation, Governance, Bildung (Organisation, Governance, Education). We regularly use networks at the TU Braunschweig, in the region of South-Eastern Lower Saxony, in the political capital Berlin and in the scientific community to support students in the development of and work on individual scientific research questions and the access to a professional life. In teaching, we additionally focus on further issues within the German political system as well as theories and methods in political science.

The workspace of our chair are located at the Campus Nord of the TU Braunschweig, Bienroder Weg 97 (see map of the TU (building no. 92) and city map).
