To qualify, universities have to agree objectives in eight fields of action and implement measures
within three years. Objectives include, for instance, introducing flexible working hours for
academic and supporting staff; preparation of a guide on maternity protection and parental leave
for all staff at TU Braunschweig by the HR department; extending childcare schemes; and setting
up academic expert groups on the topic “family-friendly university“. We aim to provide active and
continued support to students and staff with family duties, allowing them to successfully combine
higher education as a place of work and study with their family life.
