Tina Turtle

Searching and Hunting with a Turtle

In this workshop we teached Tina Turtle how to search and hunt. Tina Turtle was a small hungry turtle. After workshop we hope Tina is a small turtle which has had enough.

To develope algorithms for searching, hunting and escaping we used the computer language Logo. Logo is suited very well to lern programming. Thus we want to give some tips on this page.

Here you can find the files used in our workshop (click on these files with right mouse button and store them on hard disc):

Logo on the Internet

Some free Logo-interpreters exist on the internet:

  • We used NetLogo. Probably working with this interpeter amuses more than with others, because it is possible to animate arbitrary many turtles. Then these turtles perform their programs in parallel. Unfortunately NetLogo exists in English only. Also the documentation is in English.
  • MSWLogo is easier to learn than NetLogo. On the one hand it can handle one turtle only but on the other hand you can move the turtle in a three-dimensional space. MSWLogo is available in German too.
  • Here, you can find a nice page about Logo.
  • Of Course you can find (as always) many informations about Logo by using Google.
