The Institute of Acoustics and Dynamics (InAD) at TU Braunschweig is looking for a motivated

student assistant (HiWi, f/m/d)

to support research in the area of Design to Acoustics (D2A).
The D2A project combines numerical vibroacoustic simulation, design parameterization, automated data generation, and machine learning. The long-term objective is to develop data-driven methods that can rapidly predict acoustic behaviour and support the design of quieter engineering structures.

Your tasks:
Depending on your interests and experience, your work may include:

  • Developing and parameterizing simplified structural-acoustic models
  • Performing finite-element and vibroacoustic simulations
  • Automating simulation workflows and generating structured datasets
  • Processing and visualizing vibration, sound-pressure, and acoustic-field results
  • Supporting the development of surrogate and machine-learning models
  • Comparing reduced-order or data-driven predictions with high-fidelity simulations
  • Documenting methods, implementations, and numerical results.

Your profile:

  • Enrolled in mechanical engineering, computational sciences, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related programme
  • Interest in acoustics, structural dynamics, numerical simulation, or machine learning
  • Basic programming experience, preferably in Python, MATLAB, or C++
  • Careful, independent, and well-structured working style
  • Good English communication skills
  • Previous knowledge of FEM, signal processing, machine learning, or scientific computing is helpful but not mandatory.
